Communication

June 17, 2019 Posted by Transporter Customer Service

Like other businesses communications are critical to the auto transport industry.

There are three components in an auto transport transaction Broker, Carrier and Customer.

Let’s review the sequence of events in this communication process:

  • The broker communicates, through advertising to potential customers.
  • The customer communicates to the broker their need for auto transport.
  • The broker communicates with the customer and documents their requirements (cost and schedule) for the transport.
  • The broker communicates the customer requirements to the carrier community through load boards such as central dispatch or through direct communication with the broker’s network of carriers.
  • The carrier then communicates to the broker their desire to transport the customer vehicle.
  • The broker then assigns the vehicle to the carrier and communicates to the:
    • Carrier, the specific customer contact information
    • Customer, the carrier contact information.
  • The carrier communicates to the:
    • Customer for pickup and delivery specifics
    • Broker when the vehicle is picked up and when it is delivered.

That is a lot of communications to ship a vehicle.

The interaction between the carrier and the customer is critical to this entire process. If issues arise with the pickup/delivery or the carriers equipment this information needs to be communicated to both the broker and the customer in a timely manner.  This first communication is dependent on the carrier for timely communication.

Communications between the carrier and broker builds team work which is essential to delivering a quality product to the customer. This is the foundation of customer service
